History of ACFM
In 1994, Marcie and Dale Hagler planted an orchard with 16 varieties of apples on property adjacent to their Xenia homestead. Five years later, the Haglers purchased more than 40 acres of land in Spring Valley, planted a variety of vegetables, and opened Apple Country Farm Market to share their harvest with the community.
As a child growing up in Xenia, Ohio, Dale began gardening with his grandparents, C.M. and Ruby Moody. It was quality time spend with special people in his life.
Later, he remembers long hours of weeding, hoeing, and harvesting fresh vegetables that he and his brother, Kent, then sold in their neighborhood. Praised by customers for the quality of their produce, the brothers have fond memories of their entrepreneurial lessons.
"Looking back, I value the gardening lessons and work ethics my parents and grandparents instilled in me at a very young age," said Hagler. "I thank them for the positive influence on my life, especially my success in business."
"Working outdoors is a great stress reliever and change of pace from our daily corporate jobs," said Marcie.
"We decided to open our farm market close to friends and neighbors in an effort to provide a needed and valuable service to the community," said Dale. "In today's fast-paced society, one of the best things about working in agriculture is seeing the smiles on peoples' faces when they visit our farm."
At Apple Country Farm Market, our mission is to provide our friends and neighbors the highest quality fresh produce and specialty items in a family-friendly environment.
